Is dental implant good or not?
Dental implants are generally very good for replacing missing teeth, the surgery is highly successful as they offer several advantages over traditional dentures and bridges. However, they are not a one-size-fits-all solution and may not be right for everyone.
BENEFITS: Natural look and feel: Implants look and feel like natural teeth, providing a comfortable and confident smile. Improved chewing: Implants are firmly anchored in the jawbone, allowing you to chew your favorite foods with ease. Durability: With proper care, implants can last a lifetime, making them a long-term investment in your oral health. Bone-preserving: Implants stimulate the jawbone, preventing bone loss and maintaining facial structure. Improved Speech: Implants can improve speech clarity compared to dentures that can slip or click. No Impact on Adjacent Teeth: Unlike bridges, implants do not require changing adjacent teeth.

What is dental implant surgery?
Dental implant surgery is a procedure in which we replace tooth roots with metal, screwlike posts and replace damaged or missing teeth with artificial teeth that look and function like real ones. It’s a popular and effective long-term solution for people who have lost teeth due to injury, disease, or decay.
The dental implant surgery process
- Our dentist will examine your mouth, take X-rays, and discuss your overall health to determine if you’re a suitable candidate for dental implants. We’ll explain the procedure, discuss different implant options, and create a personalized treatment plan.
- Our oral surgeon will incision your gum to expose the jawbone. He’ll drill a small hole into the bone and place the implant post (usually made of titanium). Then, the gum tissue will be stitched closed over the implant.
- Over the next few months, the implant will fuse with the jawbone through a process called osseointegration, creating a stable foundation for the artificial tooth. During this healing period, you might have temporary dentures or bridges to fill the gap.
- Once the implant has fully integrated with the bone, the surgeon will reopen the gum tissue to expose the implant. They’ll attach an abutment, a small connector post, to the implant.
- Our dentist will take impressions of your mouth to create a custom-made artificial tooth (crown) that matches your natural teeth. The dental crown is then attached to the abutment, completing the process.
What can you do if you don’t have enough bone for implants?
After the loss of teeth, there is no “workload” on the jawbones in that area when you chew. This means that in a short time, the bone in the jaw bone tissue decreases. Thus you will need dental bone grafting for the implants. Whether the patient needs a small or large amount of bone grafting, thanks to today’s modern techniques, it can now take place in the same session as the implantation. The choice only affects the length of the healing period.
How long does dental implant surgery take?
Placing a single implant usually takes about 1-2 hours, with the time increasing with each additional implant. Factors that affect dental implant surgery time include:
Number of implants, whether bone grafting is needed, or anesthesia, the type of implant system, and your overall health.
How painful is dental implant surgery?
Dental implant surgery is usually painless, as if you do not request anesthesia, your dentist will numb the area with a local anesthetic, ensuring that you do not feel any pain during the surgery itself. You may feel some pressure or vibration, but this should not be painful. You may experience some discomfort or soreness in the area for a few days after surgery, but this can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. The amount of discomfort will vary depending on the complexity of the surgery, the number of implants placed, and your individual pain tolerance.
How long does it take to recover from teeth implant surgery?
The healing process takes a minimum of 3 months. Over this period the bone cells can grow directly into the microspores on the surface of the implants. This bone accretion (also called osseointegration) creates the stable fixation of the implant. Thanks to this the implant will be able to bear the chewing pressure without suffering any damage.
How successful is dental implant surgery?
Dental implant surgery has an exceptionally high success rate of 95-98%, making it one of the most reliable and predictable procedures in dentistry. More about the dental implant rejection symptoms
