What are veneers?

Veneers are very popular in modern cosmetic dentistry because they offer amazing result most gently. Veneers are custom-made ceramics, which are usually mounted on the teeth in the front region (smile zone) permanently. Their function is to achieve an optical embellishment of the smile. They are a popular choice for aesthetic dentistry. Veneers can be roughly divided into four types: direct, conventional indirect veneers and non-prep (Lumineers). There are also E-max 3D crowns, which are not veneers, but full-coverage crowns, which can be considered for aesthetic purposes in cases where veneers are not sufficient. These different types result in different veneer prices.

Lumineer is a 0.5 mm thin transparent coating that sometimes does not need to be ground. Conventional veneers are 1 mm thin, depending on the degree of grinding, and only cover the front of the teeth; they are used for canines. Emax veneers are 1.5-2 mm thick and cover the teeth completely.

Direct or composite veneers

The direct or composite veneers are made from light-curing materials. The direct veneers is made individually after a short waiting period in the practice; a prior impression is not necessary. Their production costs less than indirect all-ceramic veneers, but their quality and durability are lower.

With the help of hybrid veneers made of porcelain composite, immediate shells can be applied to the teeth. A suitable size and shape can be selected from a factory series. After they have been adapted to the tooth, they can be permanently bonded.

Indirect or porcelain veneers

Conventional veneers, Lumineers, E-max veneers. The preparation of indirect or porcelain veneers is more complex. Before fixing it, you need a consultation, other treatments, impressions, and laboratory work. Their advantage is that dental technology makes them much more precise and natural.

Are 4, 6, 10 veneers enough?

4 veneers are rarely enough to create a harmonious smile, but in some individual cases they can provide a satisfactory result. Rarely 6, usually 8 veneers are enough for an average mouth per row of teeth, 10 for a wider mouth.

How many veneers do you need for a full smile?

The perfect smile can be achieved with 20 veneers (10 at the bottom and 10 at the top), as they completely cover the smile line.

Treatment with veneers does not contribute to aesthetics, as the contour recedes or is disproportionate. In such cases, gingivoplasty is always necessary first. This is how we achieve an aesthetically pleasing result.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Cost of Veneers

The most important cost factor is the material used (composite, ceramic, E-max, or Lumineers), followed by the level of laboratory work involved and the experience of the treating dentist. The extent of tooth preparation also has an impact on the final price.

The main reasons are lower laboratory, staffing, and operating costs. However, the materials used and treatment methods can be identical, provided that certified materials and experienced dentists are involved.

Yes. Veneers placed on posterior teeth must withstand higher biting forces and are often thicker or fully covering, which increases material usage and laboratory work – and therefore the overall cost.

Not always. Procedures such as gum contouring, removal of old fillings, or bite adjustments are often charged separately and should be clarified in advance within the treatment and cost plan.

In individual cases, yes. If additional treatment needs become apparent during preparation, the final price may be adjusted. Reputable clinics inform patients of such possibilities before treatment begins.

High-quality ceramic veneers often last 10–15 years or longer with good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, which can make the higher initial investment worthwhile in the long term.

Yes. When multiple veneers are placed in one treatment, many clinics offer package pricing, which usually results in a lower cost per veneer compared to single restorations.

No. Longevity depends less on price and more on the combination of material quality, precise planning, and professional bonding. Even more affordable veneers can be durable if these factors are met.
